Amazing Grace

Good morning! Here's my card for today. It is a simple layout....just colored, layered, and cut out. I added a background stamp to the base card to give it a feel of texture but that was the hardest bit. In fact the center didn't stamp completely, but it's covered with the dp.
Are you tired of hearing about Copic markers? I sure hope not, because I am fascinated by them. They are alcohol based markers and blend so well together. What I have learned so far is that you follow the lines/shadows of your image to create the depth of different shades of color. Many stamp images made today have lines in them so it is simple to follow along. As you can see above, I used the lighter colors all over but added a darker shade to the lines in the middle (or you could lay down another layer of the same shade for a more subtle affect). I also added some darker color to a portion of the outline of each image. I'm still learning about light sources and such, so I'm not consistent, but I'm happy with the results here.
Enjoy today as you think of God's amazing grace - freely given to all who accept it.

Happy Bubbles Birthday

A friend gave me this cute bubble bath bunny stamp, & I've finally made a card with it.

Ahhhh - doesn't a birthday focused on pampering sound like a great idea? Unfortunately, I'd have to clean my tub before I got to soak in it & that does NOT sound like fun. :)

The stamp is by Stampabilities, the flowers are by Hero Arts, and the bday die is a new one I just got by Sissix. I used my silver Painty by Zig to go around the edges of all three circles which were cut with Nesties.

Hope you get to pamper yourself a little bit this week.

A Touch of Spring

The sun is shining brightly today, & I must admit that it gives me Spring fever. This card makes me feel warm & sunny, too.
I stamped the SU! butterfly with Tuxedo Black ink & colored it with Copics. I'm getting very fond of those markers, Friends! I don't know where the idea for turning up the lace edge punch came from, but I think the affect goes well with the overall layout. The verse stamp is from a company called G-rated Stamps. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I added orange Stickles. Can you see it in the picture?

Bear of a Birthday

Good Monday morning, All. I hope your weekend was just what you needed to renew & rejuvenate.

Today's post evolved (I know, bad word!) as I looked at my choices of images. The Daisy Kingdom bear was my first piece. No, that's not right. I found the Stampabilities heart background stamp a while ago at Hobby Lobby. I colored it in and around with Copics, so it was just hanging out in my pile of "what can I do with this" images.

Then I added the bear, & the Nesties heart was next after I added Brilliance Chocolate ink to it. The three flowers were going to be my last piece of this card, but it just didn't look right. So what did I do but commit to a word image which is layered with glitter cardstock. This is now one of my favorite cards-hope ya like it, too!

Good Saturday morning to you. Today's card is extremely simple. I colored the image with Copic markers, adding Crystal Stickles to make it look curly. I'm not sure it shows up in the picture, but I did some paper piercing in the bottom right corner on the black cs. I haven't decided what kind of card this will be so there are no words yet.....could be a baby card, bday card, or a thinking of you card.

The stamp is by Daisy Kingdom & was bought at Michaels when it first opened about 16 or 17 years ago. I have a couple others that you'll be seeing soon, too. I remember buying the accessories that were offered.....ink for printing on fabric, etc. I did use them once to embellish a t-shirt, but mostly I've used them on cards. I still love this one as much now as I did when I first bought it.

Enjoy your day!

FTTC3 Timeless Tuesday Challenge

When I haven't been sick, I've been playing with some new markers - Copic Sketch markers. I've been studying the recommendations by many other bloggers who are truly experts at using these alcohol-based markers, could not resist any longer from trying them myself & so here I am! I own a few colors, have bought a different ink pad, & have just gotten some new cardstock that makes a big difference. These ladies really do know what they are talking about!

I'm no expert at coloring/shading, but these tools make it easy to feel like an artist! I'm having fun practicing and coming up with ideas to showcase the images, so I hope you enjoy seeing them.

I CASE'd my card from http://stampinwithmarkiesmom.blogspot.com/. I had just gotten my Flourishes' Poppy set when Faith posted her sample. Hope you like my version. I added black Stickles to the center of the poppy and to a few of the leaves. I cut out the leaf sections & used popdots to give it some dimension. The shiny bling in the corner is a bead cap. I absolutely love the look of those things!

Have a great Friday.....happy stamping!

A Sample for You

Thank you for stopping by to see if I've posted anything. It has been almost two weeks since I was able to complete a sample. In between the last post and today, my family has been sick (me, too!) with whatever that bug is that seems to be getting lots of people down this winter. Hopefully our immunities to it have been built up, & we won't be bothered with it again.

Here's a cute but simple card I made because I knew my not so girly girl would love it. The green Stickles adds that extra something to the Prismacolor pencil coloring. I used no less than 4 different greens on this guy, and at the last minute added black Stickles for his toe nails. Isn't he a prince?

The dp is old stuff from Stampin' Up!, the iguana is from Mostly Animals, the word stamp is by a company I think no longer exists: Sonlight. Did you notice the aligator-type texture I made with the Cuttlebug?

ssnotime72 - Love Challenge

Here's another challenge card I made. Jen suggested the ribbon as a final touch. I think it's just what the card needed. I know, lots of my cards are pink & brown. It seems I can't help myself! I promise to try somekind of Valentine using red...honest!

I just love this stamp by Ducks In A Row. The challenge with this card was not only a layout, but a movie theme as well. Have you seen the movie "Princess Bride?" The heroine, Buttercup, comes to find that her farm boy, Westley, means "I love you" whenever he answers her demands with, "As you wish." Isn't that so sweet? At one point she tumbles down a hill after Westley & this image reminds me of her going head over heels.

Dotted Hearts

You didn't expect anything but hearts between now & 2/14, did you? I might sneak one or two different images in here, but I'm going to make the most of my favorite "holiday." This card was made when I first got my Cuttlebug. I thought the bubble folder was perfect for a dotted heart stamp. My brain is churning with new ideas for this stamp, so we'll see if I can come up with something unique for tomorrow's card. Have a great Monday!
