Flower Medallion II

Here's the second card I promised for today. This time I used pinks as well as the purples & yellows. When I found out I had a complementary color of glitter paper, I knew I had to try it. The flourishes are stamped with Brilliance ink which is also shimmery although it doesn't show up well in the photo. It's amazing how a stamp can have a completely different look about it, depending on it's setting.

Wanted to let you know that I will be off-line for about two weeks. I won't have access to a computer, so no samples for a little while.

Blessings on your first day of Spring tomorrow!

Medallion Flower

Here's a card that says "Sunshine" to me. You can't see it well in this picture, but there are tiny green leaves on the dp - that's why I chose a green base card. Also, I've added some small dots of Stickles to the scalloped edge of the white cs. I love the yellow flower petals sticking out from the edge, too.
Look for another post later today using the same stamp.

Simply Bright

We have one more sunny, warm day here in Ohio before our fickle spring weather returns to cold & rainy. I keep repeating what I learned as a kid: "April showers bring May flowers." Can't wait for that!
Today's card is a simple layout. I wanted to showcase the pail of flowers as much as possible so it is cut out & layered on a black background with popdots. The dp has been in my collection for some time in 12x12 form. I thought it went beautifully with the various tulip colors of the image. Oh, yes, and it's all on a square card. The recipe is below, although the stamp does not have a company name on it.

Paper: SU! cs, unknown dp

Accessories: corner rounder, sticky gems, Martha Stewart Lace Doily Edge punch

Two for the "price" of One

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you! I hope you are in a green mood.....and I'm not talking about saving the planet, Ladies. March 17th always means Spring is just around the corner - are you in the mood for that? I sure am. Spring is special to me because I think of trees budding, flowers blooming, and baby birds hatching. It all points to the best "new beginning" - Jesus' resurrection! Without it, all would be lost. But, hallelujah - He makes all things new!

Today I have two cards for you. Both have the base card made from black cs which was Cuttlebug'ed - is that word? One was made with Zinnia flower stickers by Martha Stewart. (Thanks, Crystal, for telling me about them!) I used my Nestabilities to make a frame, giving it some 3D with pop dots. The other card was made with a SU! flower image from a pocket set they had out a few years ago. The flowers were colored with Copics & layered with Urban Prairie dp by Basic Grey. I added clear gems to their centers to spice it up a bit.
Warning - I'm becoming a ribbon fanatic. I'm not so much into bows, but I like using it as a layer or background for my cards. The yellow I just found at Michaels on the clearance rack. Gotta love those deals when we can find 'em.
Have a blessed day, All.

Bouquet

A sunny Monday has arrived - yeah! Did you have a good weekend? I sure hope you did. I was busy with laundry and our list for Florida. The Lord has blessed us with another Spring Break vacation which we are looking forward to enjoying.
My card today is made with a Magenta stamp. The detail on their stamps is just exquisite. I colored it with Copics (no surprise there, right?), using browns for the flower centers. The OCC challenge is to use only 3 layers & one embellishment. The Stamp Simply challenge is to use white as a frame or mat around the image. As you can see, I ran the edges of my card through a CB folder & stamp brown speckles in the middle. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Edit: I took a peek at this card close up on the blog. I want you to know that it really looks better in person. Honest. Why is that?

Pretty Bird

Good afternoon, Stamping Friends. I hope you are enjoying sunshine today. We are and it is wonderful!
Today's card was made with Basic Grey dp. I am enjoying these papers very much. They come in various ways...6x6 pads, 12x12 collections, or 12x12 single sheets. If you can't find them in a scrapbooking store close to you, check it out on the internet. They are everywhere.
I used two different papers from the collection with ribbon to cover the seams. The bird image is from a Hero Arts set called Sending Happy Thoughts. It is layered with black cs, shimmery pink cs from Paper Temptress, and turquoise cs run through my CB using the rectangle Nestabilities die. I then added black brads and used pop dots to make the whole thing stand out a bit. A Martha Stewart punch made the black leaves I used to embellish the corners.
Have I mentioned that I almost always stick things together with glue now & not monoadhesive? The monoadhesive didn't do a very good job for me after I started texturizing my cs by using the CB folders. I had read on a blog that someone just loved a certain type of glue, so I gave it a try and have to agree with her. It is called Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. It's not hard to find as it is dual tipped with green caps. (I use a coupon at Joanns to keep myself stocked up.) That's my tip for the week!
Have a great weekend & hugs to you.

FLLCMAR - Summer Sentiment

Hi, Everyone! Did you think I wouldn't have a card today? I thought I wouldn't, but this idea came to me so I've put it together rather quickly.

The Challenge at Flourishes is to use a sentiment. This one is from their Poppy stamp set. I chose to use a monochromatic technique & make highlights on the card with sparkles....Stickles on the flower, White Diamond Metallic cs from Paper Temptress, & some sparkly ribbon. I borrowed the flower stamp so don't know who it is by. I ran the main card through the CB with the snowflakes folder (Don't you think they look like flowers, too?) And used Nestabilities to cut out my layers.
Enjoy what's left of your Thursday.....hope you get to do some stamping, too!

Joy for your day

Well, Friends, I need your opinions. What do you think? Do you like the added color to this card or should I have left it plain? I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils, stamped the Hero Arts flourishes & sentiment, & used a sponge to add the shimmery Brilliance ink to the background. Actually, I think I used both a pink & purple ink.

I guess I should have posted a picture of the card pre-ink so we could compare them, but try to imagine it if you can :).

Something else I did was used Gamsol and a blending stump on the pencil colors. I don't know if you can see any difference, but I like it. I will post a non-Gamsol & a Gamsol sample later on so you can see what I'm talking about.

Have a great Tuesday....hope you get to do some stamping of your own!

Sweet Wishes

Happy Monday to all of you who stop by. Hope you had wonderful weekends and are ready for whatever the Lord brings to your week...all rested? I'm on a two week countdown for vacation, but more about that later in a different post.
I'm supposed to be on my way to our monthly Stamping Day, but I keep remembering things I must get done before I go. Sigh! I'm missing the sweet fellowship so this is going to be a quick post.
The images are Inkadinkado, colored with Copics. Stickles make the card sparkly and the ribbon adds to the color. I ran main cardstock through the CB, layered it up, & voila - here's how it turned out.

Sending Smiles

It's very early here, Friends. I bet all of you are still sleeping. Sure hope so! Been up since 3:30 thanks to the dog & my dd's radio. I finally got up to turn it off. Ugh. I will probably be dragging all day. But I'll try to drag with a smile. Ha
Here's my card for today. I wouldn't normally choose yellow as my background color, but I think it works great here. This little lion just cracks me up. I used several Copics until I got his face & body the color I wanted. Did you know you can make your own shades & colors by experimenting? To layer the card, I used three different Nesties & heat embossed the word image. Had to add a little something, so I put together this flower & stuck some Dew Drops into the scallops. Hope you like it!

Sweet Sprinkles

Friday's arrived with warmer weather for us here in Ohio - Yeah! We've been waiting for it.
Today's card is made from two stamp sets. The sentiment is from H&M Stamps. The cupcake is by Inkadinkado. I stamped the cupcake on the white circle (cut with Nestabilities) and used popdots to layer the colored, cutout cupcake on top. I used those Copics again to color the cupcake. I say it all the time, but have to repeat myself - I just love using those markers!
I don't remember where the heart brad came from but isn't it cute "hanging" from the ribbon? The edges of the card were run through the CB. That's it for this one.
Thanks for stopping by.....have a blessed day.

Giggle Girl

Here's a very simple card for you today, Friends. This sweet girl is by Imaginations. I've colored her with Prismacolor pencils and applied Gamsol with stubs to smooth out the color.

The word stamp & plaid stamp are both by Hero Arts. A Martha Stewart edge punch was used along the black layer of cs. I completed the look by adding some buttons from my collection.

I found this stamp a long time ago, but here's a website where you can still order her if you're interested: http://www.stampandgo.com/IMBESTSELLERSpage1.html#Flower%20Cart

I hope she's brightened your day..

Spreader of Love Blog Award

Crystal passed this kind award to me the other day, & I just learned how to actually post it! That is awfully sweet of you, Friend. I am supposed to pass it on to 5 others whom I know "spread the love," but I don't know many bloggers yet. One person popped into my mind right away, so here she is:

Korin at http://inkydoodle.blogspot.com/ has a wonderful heart. She lives for Jesus so she is automatically spreading that love! It comes through in her posts as she loves her family & friends, loves creating stamped items, & provides goodies to all of us other papercrafters through her Sweet N Sassy Stamps store. Thanks, Korin.

Smiley the Mouse

Good morning, All! I hope you had a fine evening & a good night's sleep.
Doesn't Mr. Mouse here make you smile & think "Ahhhhhh"? This little Stampabilities stamp is one of my favorites. I colored him with Prismacolor pencils & layered it on black & silver cs.
Gotta get my girl to school so I'll post more later!

A card and a confession

First, I'll post the card for today and then get to my confession......

This stamp image is by D.O.T.S. My sister bought it about a hundred years ago. Well, not really that long ago, but you get what I mean. She decided to get rid of the stamp because she's into scrapping more than card making & her kids are boys. I agreed that she probably wouldn't have that much use for it so gladly took it off her hands. :) I love everything about this image. Color combos are endless & there really is no way to mess her up. Since red is my favorite color, I started with that.

My confession takes a little background information, so I'll try to be as brief as possible without leaving out the important parts. As I have stamped and been a SU! demonstrator, my "artistic eye" has grown. I notice color, balance, shading, etc much more than I did prior to my experience with stamping. Believe me when I say that I am not an artist of any kind. Then came the day when a friend introduced me to the blogging world. Wow! I was shocked & amazed. It hasn't been a year yet, but I love all the blogs out there where women share their ideas and expertise...I've learned so much in this short time.

One thing I learned hasn't been so good. It's that there are a lot more stamps out there than I ever knew about. They're available by clicking a couple of buttons & giving a little info. I don't need to live close to a store (in fact, most of them you can't find in a physical store). Not only are there stamps, but there's a whole, great, big world of accessories that I never dreamed of! And if you are good at putting them altogether, there are accolades & praise for you, too.

Now for the confession, Girls: I've been feeling sorry for myself because I can't get much of that stuff. And if I don't have the stuff, I can't get the praise! Pride & coveteousness. I've already had a long talk with the Lord about this. I realize I need to change my focus. I'm asking God to help me see the cards I make as His cards...made by Him via my hands & eyes. Any praise goes to Him, not me. (I surely would appreciate your prayer for me to keep my eyes on Him.)

You probably don't need the warning, but can I give you one anyway out of love? Please don't make the same mistake I did. Guard your heart from the idea that the praise from paper crafter world is what it's all about. God has given us our supplies and our ideas. Let's make the most of what we have & use it all for His glory. Let's think about ways we can use our cards to show people we care & that God cares.

In the past couple of months, the Lord graciously gave me two ministries which use cards. He knew I was growing this sinful thinking, but He gave them to me anyway & then showed me the error of my ways. Isn't He wonderful?

Miss June

Oh, Ladies, have I been busy! I took about three hours last night, closed the craft room door, and put together NINE cards!!!
I can't wait to show them all to you, but I'm going to be good and do them one a day. And those of you who know me personally know just how hard it is for me to wait! In fact, I recently gave a friend her birthday present...and her bday isn't until April! :)
Anyway, here's the first card for you. It's so simple to make this kind of card, basically monochromatic. I've colored Miss June with Copics & cut out a heart to put into her hands.
Both Miss June & the heart are D.O.T.S. stamps I've had for years. The words are from SU!. See ya tomorrow......
