Honest Blog Award

Finally, I am remembering that Crystal gave me this award several weeks ago. I was having a hard time thinking of my 10 Honest things to say about myself & kept forgetting to pass it along. Thanks for thinking of me, Crystal. Let's see what I can come up with today.

There are two requirements for accepting the award: 1) I must thank the person who gave me the award & list their blog and link and 2) I must list 10 honest things about myself.

I've already completed the first one....#2 coming right up......

1) I was born and raised in the country outside a small town & although I live in the Big City, I'm a country girl deep down inside.

2) I may live in the Buckeye State, but I'm a Hoosier at heart!

3) I am blessed to be married for 20 years to a man who lives radically for the Lord.

4) I had the privledge to homeschool our son all the way through high school & our daughter until halfway thru 10th grade.

5) I have a passion for Special Olympics & volunteered in one way or another from 9th grade up until my children were born.

Have you had enough or should I go on? Ok, here are the rest of them:

6) I loved the Beach Boys, not the Beatles.

7) I only like books & movies with happy endings. And almost never read self-help type books.

8) I collect Newbery Award childrens' books.

9) I would love to learn ballroom dancing (wanted to do that before there was Dancing with the Stars) but wouldn't wear those skimpy outfits!

10) This year I grew flower plants from seeds...and they are now starting to bloom!

Now to pass along this award.....Ashley, Becky, and Cathy.

Sketch Saturday Challenge-Birthday Wishes

Greetings, All. Today's card is my take on the Sketch Saturday Challenge for this week. I kept everything simple and streamlined to make it a more masculine card. But the potential for a feminine card is right there - just add scalloped edges, brighter colors, flower or bling embellishments. My image is stamped twice with four of the animals cut out & attached by pop dots. I used Copics to color the image...very fun! Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of which colors I used. I'd love to see you try the sketch....if you do, leave me a comment with your link so I can take a peek at your version! Blessings, Laurie

Stamps: Stamps by Judith, Hero Arts, Art After Dark

CS: Basic Grey Granola dp

Ink: Copics, Memento Tuxedo Black

Believe - FTTC21

Good Monday morning, All! Today's card is for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge by Flourishes. I've used their Sweet Pea set for my image. I stamped it three times, one for my base image. The other two I colored and cut out....using pop dots to double a few flowers & then pop dots again to triple two of them. The dp I've used is Eva by Basic Grey. I can't remember who made the "believe" embellishment, but it fit right in with the sketch. Although you can't see it in the photo, I used SU! Pale Plum to sponge light color around the image. That's it for today.....Thanks for stopping by.....Hugs, Laurie

House Mouse Chall #43

Here's my offering for the House Mouse's a sketch challenge this time. I've chosen to use Basic Grey Lime Ricky dp as my background papers. I colored the diamond brads with Copics so I could have some coordinating emblishments. I also used Crystal Stickles to go over the lightly colored wings. This is my first try at showing a picture of the markers I used. What do you think? Does it make it more interesting or is it annoying since the picture has to be back farther? Enjoy your Sunday......Hugs, Laurie

Flowers of Gratitude 2

Good morning, Friends. I have another flower image for you today. This is a very simple card....the CB makes it so very easy. I ran the base cs through the cb with the paisley folder, cut the image out with a Labels 2 Nestie, stamped the Stampabilities verse on card stock & cut out the edges "by hand." Can you tell the bow is doubled? I used my new Bow Easy template...I absolutely love how it works. If you haven't seen it or heard about it, check it out here. There's a tutorial you can watch. That's it for dd & I are off to VBS again this morning. Take care & thanks for stopping by. Hugs, Laurie

Flowers of Gratitude

Happy Monday to you all...My card for today is made with Flowers of Gratitude from SU!. I also used their dp. The images were cutout using Labels 1 Nesties and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from a The Paper Company Studio set called Faith Greetings. The button hearts have been in my collection for quite a while so I can't recall where I found them. That's it for now....Hugs, Laurie

Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge 13

It's a hot, sultry Saturday today....I'm not much in the mood for coffee, but couldn't resist using this image from Impression Obsession for this week's challenge card. Didn't Kimm choose great colors? They are B05, YG23, & YR04. Kimm also challenged us to add a purple, so I used BV02. I also have YR00, B00, BV00, & YG00 in this card, too. The wonderful dp is Lime Rickey by Basic Grey (you just can't go wrong with that paper, Friends!) I also used the ribbon tag and classic oval by Spellbinders. To play along, go to Artful Sentiments & add a comment with a link to your beautiful challenge project.

Spreading Sunshine to You!

Well, Friends, this is my third try at posting a card today. Hopefully there won't be any problems this time. Can you believe it was just 5 minutes ago but I can't remember what I said before? Argh - low estrogen day, I guess. Anyway......I started with white cs which was embossed with the Swirls CB folder. I used the direct to paper ink technique to add Pale Plum & Pretty in Pink to the cs. The butterfly image is from SU!'s Winged Things set. I used the Classic Circle & Scallop Square nesties with a CB corner cutouts inbetween. My ribbon was too sheer but the perfect color match so I doubled it to make it stand out better. Can you see the sparkle around the edge of the circle layer? I used a Quickie Glue pen & Dazzling Diamonds glitter to getthis effect. Lastly, I added those teeny-tiny sticky gems for balance. Please excuse the tilt of this picture. I guess I wasn't as awake as I thought I was this morning when I snapped the photo. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday --- Hugs, Laurie

House Mouse Bday Wishes -Challenge #41

Morning, All. Today's card is for the House Mouse Monday Challenge to use red, white, & blue. The red & blue are no problem, but Copic doesn't have white. So I used sparkly white Stickles to make my what bow. The dp's are some I've had for years from SU!, & I used their corner punch, too. The words are taken from a Stampablities stamp - I used my little ink pad to ink only the words I wanted. Below is a list of Copic markers I used. Thanks for stopping by my blog. -- Laurie

Copics: E00, E11, E33, E35, E50, E55, E57, W1, W3, W5, R27, B24, B26, RV10, Y19, YR09, YG11, YG17, BG000

Swinging into Summer - fllcjune

Ever have one of those days when cards just seem to roll of your fingers? Well, today I've made three cards in a matter of a couple of hours. Actually I think it's more like one hour but I've had laundry, lunch, & picking up our dd from her last day of school to interrupt my time. Here is my Easy Breezy card from a Flourishes challenge. The goal is to post a card that doesn't take longer than ten minutes to make. If you hurry you can join the challenge & have a chance to win the three new sets about to be released. Check it out.

Stamps: Flourishes

CS: SU! Bordering Blue, Basic Grey Wisteria dp

Ink: SU! Bordering Blue & River Rock, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Sketch Markers

Accessories: Labels 2 Nestie

Sympathy card

My offering for today is this sympathy card in several shades of green. I purposefully chose to keep most of the lines straight & clean. To add interest, I cut the dragonfly image with the Classic Oval Nestie & embossed Olive Green cs with a CB folder. To keep it simple, I did not use a bow, but like the look of this ribbon stripe. There is a little Stardust Glitter added embossed image & glitter from my glitter pen on the wings of the dragonfly. That's it for this one! I'll post the recipe below. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon -- Laurie

Oops - I forgot to mention that I used SU! River Rock ink to add color to the oval cut out. I also used it for my sentiment tag.
Stamps: Hero Arts, SU!

CS: DCWV, SU!, unknown (dp)

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Sketch markers

FTTC19 - Designer Paper

Hello, Friends. Thanks for stopping by to view my blog this morning. I was excited to see that I had this image already colored in colors that match Basic Grey's Porcelain dp. The challenge this week at Flourishes is to use dp. I used both the Label 1 & Label 2 Nesties, outlining them with a yellow Copic. The image is an old one from SU! I do believe, but I have no idea what the name of the set is. I didn't keep a record of which Copics I used....bummer, because I love this comboniation. Have a terrific Tuesday. Hugs, Laurie

Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge 11

What do you think of our challenge colors this week? Aren't they gorgeous, rich colors? I had been wanting to use this wonderful set from Our Daily Bread Designs so here we are. The layout of the card is very simple, starting with dp for the background. This one happens to be double-sided. (I'll try to use the other side on a card this week - it's stunning!) I then made ovals with the Petite Oval Nestie set for my image & sentiment. The sentiment oval has the ends cut away to make a different, but complementary shape. I used Copics in browns to make a "table" or base for the pots to "sit" on & used cool gray shades for the background around the pots and the sentiment. Actually, now that I think about it, I did my coloring before I cut out the image. The Nestie helped make a good frame so I knew exactly where to cut for a more balanced image. I added the gold sticky dots to finish it off.
Won't you get your Copics out & take our challenge, Friends? Remember, you don't have to have the exact colors....similar ones are fine. Come on! Try it! Hugs, Laurie
Stamps: ODBD
CS: Bazzill, Graphic 45
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics: C1, C3, E44, E47, B91, B97, R85, R89, Y32, Y35

Take Good Care

Good morning....well, you are probably looking at the post on Friday morning, but I am posting on Thursday night. I will be super busy starting early tmw morning, so I thought I would get my post in now before it's time for bed. This card is for all of you who have a hard time using something that's not "perfect." How many of you saw the imperfections before I told you it had some? When I first stamped the image, I thought of throwing it away but after I colored it I put it back in with the other colored images. Today when I was looking through them, I didn't even notice that the flower is not centered on the stem. In fact, I didn't notice it again until just now when I posted the picture! Is it too bad to send to someone? I don't think so. I'm glad I didn't toss it...I like how this turned out. Hope you do too, Friends. --- Laurie

Birthday Wishes

Whew! I finally got a chance to put another card together. I colored these little critters some time ago but wasn't sure what to do with them. (They are from a SU! set but I don't remember the name.) This is a fun, colorful card for some fun, colorful character to be determined in the future. It was super easy to put together....Basic Grey dp, Nestie Scallop circles, used an old circle punch to pop out those images, my corner punch from SU!, a Hero Arts sentiment, and yellow stickles to add a little sparkle. It's all attached using various thicknesses of pop dots. That's it, Folks! Thanks for stopping by....Hugs, Laurie

Special Day Bouquet

Thanks for stopping by today to see what I've made. This card seems so cheery....I'll have to send it to someone who needs a little encouragement. Let me tell you how it came together for me:

I started with stamping the flower images on white Neenah cs to make a bouquet, coloring them with several Copic Sketch markers. I used Nesties to cut out the bouquet and a tag. I then chose my dp. As you can see, the dp has a yellowish base to it, making my white image piece look all wrong. Thankfully I thought of the Marigold ink pad I have & used a sponge to put down a lot of soft color all over. The dark yellow lines of the borders were made automatically when I wiped my sponge over the cs in smooth, circular motions. I added blue with a Copic marker & went over the edges again with my sponge & ink. Next came the knotted bow to the bottom of the bouquet and a flat ribbon to the dp. Popdots were used to mount both the image & the sentiment pieces. You can click on the photo to enlarge the image & see the details more clearly.

Enjoy your day --- Laurie

I hope my card for today will bless each of you! This is a challenge card from my mom. While she was here, she handed me three different base cards, one with this complementary color frame, and told me to see what I could make. She thought these colors were masculine & couldn't come up with a good idea. Anyway, I immediately had to get the CB dot folder out for the frame & a rectangle Nestie for my image. I used markers to add color directly to my Endless Creations stamp and the twill ribbon. Pop dots attach my image card to the inside of the base card....fits perfectly i the window. My last step was to add the two brads to the top. Unfortunately, my mom thinks they look like headlights & doesn't want the card! :) She told me I should've left well enough alone. Oh, well..... Have a terrific day, Laurie

New Punch Holder

Morning, All. I recently rearranged my craft room (formerly our ds's bedroom). A friend gave me these acrylic shelves 10 years ago, but the punch holders are new. Faith uses them for her punches, so I copied her idea! I love being able to see the punches I have. The larger punches fit on a 2 1/2" rod, while the small ones need a 1" rod. I have room for one more rod, but my dh doesn't want me thinking I need to fill it up right away. :)
